About The Irish Society of Western Manitoba
In order to show the Community at large that all Irish people, regardless of their economic, religious or geographical background, have the ability to live together in peace and harmony, the Society shall in all its public pronouncements and activities of all kinds, be non-sectarian, non-political and non-profit.
The Irish Society of Western Manitoba is governed by a board consisting of about 12 members.
We have held various throughout the year. The main event was the Irish Pavilion at the Westman Multicultural Festival (formerly the Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival). During this weekend over 180 members and volunteers work to create a family, fun-filled event with the sale of home made Irish food; Irish Stew, soda bread, barmbrack and shortbread are the traditional favorites. As part of promoting Irish culture, entertainment with music and Irish dancing are also showcased.
